Memorial Day on a Mountaintop

In this installment of Shipper’s Quarterly, I wanted to touch on a recent trip to the mountains of Colorado. While vacationing with family and some friends last week, we had the opportunity to traverse various mountain ranges but under some difficult conditions that required us to hike for part of it and use ATVs for other portions.
One particular goal was to ascend Engineer Pass (almost 13,000 feet in elevation) on Memorial Day in honor of our fallen heroes. Snowfall the night before and snow melt that day made the conditions less than ideal. We were determined to accomplish this goal, so we utilized ATVs and our hiking boots to get us to the top. The process took a bit longer than expected, but we made it to the extremely windy and snow-covered top of the mountain where we were unexpectedly welcomed with a tattered, yet very inspirational US flag. Since this was Memorial Day, having Old Glory reward us by her rugged presence was very moving, heart-warming, and filled us with great pride.
As a company, we hold our veterans in high esteem, and while Memorial Day is not about the living, we still honor all of our veterans realizing the heavy heart of many veterans who lost brothers and sisters in arms during their time serving our country. For this, we are very grateful for their sacrifice, and those who have given their life so that we can enjoy the freedom of democracy.
Making it to the top of that mountain pass was our small way of honoring the fallen and making sure we accomplished our goal for that day.
As we just concluded Armed Forces Appreciation Month, Memorial Day and now head into Independence Day, TSG salutes all our veterans as we thank you for your service and for your hard work and dedication to The Shippers Group.
The Shippers Group Recognized with TMSA Trailblazer Award

The Shippers Group was recently recognized at the Transportation Marketing and Sales Association (TMSA)'s inaugural Trailblazer Awards in Orlando, Florida.
The TMSA's marketing and sales awards give meaningful recognition of excellence in strategy, creativity, innovative solutions, and business results. In 2021, TSG published a robust white paper detailing our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. How a 3PL Warehouse Successfully Navigated the COVID-19 Pandemic creates awareness about the impact of the pandemic on the 3PL sector while examining first-hand experiences during the onset, as well as our initial and ongoing prevention and response to the rapidly-changing environment. Detailed strategies, best practices, and lessons learned are also included.
TSG's Robin Siekerman Named Marketing Mountain Mover of the Year

At the Transportation Marketing and Sales Association (TMSA)'s annual conference in Orlando, The Shippers Group's very own Vice President of Marketing and Customer Solutions, Robin Siekerman was awarded with the prestigious Marketing Mountain Mover of the Year award.
This particular award recognizes instrumental individuals in the industry whose achievements, performance, and vision have helped shape their company or the industry at large. Robin would certainly fit that description as she plays an instrumental role in the marketing and sales efforts at The Shippers Group.
We are fortunate to have someone of Robin’s caliber at the helm of our marketing efforts as her professionalism, integrity, and passion for her work are unparalleled.

The Shippers Group Selects Nulogy to Empower Growth in Contract Packaging Operations

The Shippers Group has made a second investment in sophisticated software, this time to support their contract packaging operations. The company has chosen to partner with Nulogy for their “end-to-end packaging execution system all the way from quote to ship.” This investment immediately follows The Shippers Group’s recent investment in Zethcon’s Synapse Warehouse Management System.
Jose Diaz Named Associate of the Year

A huge congratulations to José Díaz who was named The Shippers Group 2021 Associate of the Year!
Back in early March, a surprise celebration was held at our Wilmer facility where Owner & CEO, Graham Swank; President, Rob Doyle; Sr. VP Operations, John Dennington, and VP Human Resources - Safety Compliance, Diane Villafana joined the team to announce and personally congratulate José as the winner. "José Díaz has been with Shippers since 1982, celebrating 40 years in June," shared Villafana. "His hard work, dedication, and team approach made him the perfect selection for this year’s Associate of the Year."

The Shippers Group Welcomes General Manager, Keith Singleton

The Shippers Group is excited to announce the newest addition to our team – Keith Singleton as the General Manager for our Packaging Facility in Jonesboro, Georgia!
Keith brings over 20 years of logistical experience with a broad background in all aspects of warehousing, distribution, and packaging. In his new role as General Manager, Keith will be responsible for overseeing the packaging operations and managing the relationship with our customer. He will be instrumental in motivating the team and leading improvements on process workflows to achieve the site’s goals.

TSG's Jessica Gillespie Promoted to General Manager

Congratulations to Jessica Gillespie who was recently promoted to General Manager at our Wintergreen 2 Facility in Hutchins, TX.
Jessica started as an Operations Manager three years ago, and worked her way up to Senior Account Manager, and now General Manager. She has a proven track record of working effectively with our customers, building strong teams, and achieving best in network service for our customers. Her commitment to our customers and our operations made her the natural choice for the job.

The Shippers Group Recognized as Green Supply Chain Partner

For the 6th year in a row, The Shippers Group has been recognized by Inbound Logistics as a Green Supply Chain partner.
With a focus on sustainability, this award honors the 75 leading supply chain partners who customers can trust when seeking green supply chain management and logistics partners. Inbound Logistics' editors have determined that the 2022 honorees "walk the walk" when it comes to commitment to supply chain sustainability.
Published annually in June, the G75 list is an editors' choice list of 75 companies that go above and beyond to ensure their global supply chains are sustainable, and that their operations are socially and environmentally friendly. These companies are dedicated to developing and implementing best practices to ensure they leave a positive footprint on the world.
Highlighting Forklift Safety

Forklifts and other material handling equipment such as pallet jacks are ordinary equipment in distribution centers. Their proper maintenance and use help ensure the safety of warehouse associates and facilitate the efficient movement of goods through the facility.
National Forklift Safety Day is recognized every June and reinforces the importance of operator safety training and forklift safety practices. Read on for reference material intended as a refresher on the importance of forklift safety as well as proper use and maintenance.
Safety—No Compromising

The Shippers Group Orlando team has safety on their minds! Every day, our Orlando team kicks off the work day with a morning meeting and pre-shift stretching. Adding some upbeat music to their warm-up gives everyone an energy boost and gets them excited for the day. Even TSG President, Rob Doyle joined in on the fun while visiting the site!
