With the holiday season soon approaching, we are reminded of all those who have helped us with where we are today. From all of us here at The Shippers Group, we thank you for your continued support over the years and wish you a very Happy Holidays.

No matter how you celebrate this holiday season, the important part is sharing these moments with your loved ones—whether you're able to come together in person or virtually. May the holidays bring you and your loved ones peace, warmth, and good cheer.

As one year ends, another one begins, and with this new year, we remain focused on the future and driving continuous improvement to best serve our customers and partners. With enhancements already underway, we look to the upcoming year with excitement and confidence. 

We wish you all the best this holiday season, and a safe, prosperous, and happy new year. I look forward to a great 2022 and all the years to come with you!

The Shippers Group Gretna, VA Facility Celebrates 4 Years Accident-Free

That is why we are both excited and proud to announce that our facility in Gretna, VA just celebrated 4 years of no recordables, no lost time, and no property damage.

Congratulations to our Gretna team on this huge accomplishment!

TSG Annual Food Drive Collects Over 1,000 Items for the Dallas Area

The Shippers Group is committed to giving back to the communities wherein our operating centers are located. TSG supports a variety of volunteer activities that we participate in as teams, as well as encouraging and supporting associates to pursue individual volunteer activities. This year, we were pleased to once again participate in an annual canned food drive, serving those in need in the Dallas area during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Tis the season of giving, and we are grateful for the opportunity to give back to our communities and for our associates who share in our commitment. With each opportunity to give back, we are reminded of the importance of being a good neighbor. These efforts not only strengthen our community, but also our team as a whole!

Why Warehouse Wages are Up & Workers in Short Supply

Wages in the supply chain industry are increasing at the fastest pace seen in years in response to a shortage of labor. Prior to the pandemic, warehousing and distribution providers were already struggling from a labor market that was close to full employment, especially in high density distribution markets such as Atlanta and Dallas.

Compared to other industries, record job losses during the pandemic did not impact the supply chain industry as workers are considered essential to the movement of food, consumer packaged goods, and healthcare. However, today’s labor shortage in the warehousing industry is worse while the unemployment rate sits at 5.4%, with over 1 million more job openings (across all industries) than people looking for work at every skill and salary level.  

Associate Spotlight: Recent Promotions

Danny Kuvach, General Manager—Jonesboro, GA Multi-Client Distribution Center

As General Manager, Danny’s goal is to remove all obstacles for the site so his team can work stress-free and efficiently. His efforts will also include continuing to improve the site’s awesome culture and morale, while continuing to focus on customer relations and striving to increase the site’s profitability. Danny joined The Shippers Group two years ago where he started as the Operations Manager, working his way up to Assistant General Manager, and now General Manager.

Cliford Bowens, General Manager—Wilmer, TX Dedicated Facility

Cliford has been with The Shippers Group for almost two years, where he started as an Operations Manager at one of our public facilities in Hutchins, TX. His experience also includes being a Senior Operations Supervisor and a Warehouse Manager prior to coming to TSG. Over the last 20 years, Cliford has worked nationally and internationally in progressive roles. We are excited to see all that he will accomplish in his new position!

Cassie Minter, Corporate AP Manager

As the Accounts Payable Manager, Cassie will be managing all activities in the accounts payable function, including receiving and entering invoices into the accounting system and ensuring timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers. She also will be reviewing applicable reports to ensure accuracy. Cassie joined The Shippers Group back in January of this year. She started with the company as a Cycle Counter before becoming the Inventory Control Lead.
