Charging into the New Year
By Rob Doyle, President
The new year is off to a great start! As planned, we have been investing heavily in training and technology, while seeing our sales team have unprecedented success.
2022 has also seen us simultaneously debut two technological initiatives. We are launching Nulogy to support our packaging operations, and Zethcon's Synapse WMS for our warehousing operations. The investment in these two systems is an important step as we modernize our systems for both the operational needs of today and in looking ahead so that we are well-positioned for the future.
Our training programs continue to prove to be effective. Earlier this year, we saw the conclusion of our second Emerging Leaders program. This intensive training program is a year-long commitment for our future leaders. The program has been very successful in developing leadership and management skills among our best and brightest. We are planning to continue with our third year of the Emerging Leaders program in 2023.
Finally, it was a pleasure to have all of The Shippers Group's General Managers in Dallas earlier in the month for a few days of meetings and team-building opportunities. We recognized leaders and facilities for their successful achievements in 2021 during our first ever awards program, which you will hear more about later in this newsletter.
Thank you to all of our customers and associates for working closely during some difficult times over the last two years. On the heels of issues caused by the pandemic and supply chain disruptions, we have gotten 2022 off to a great start—together. I am looking forward to the exciting days ahead!
Innovation & Efficiency Drive Selection of Zethcon's Synapse Warehouse Management System
By Robin Siekerman, Vice President Marketing & Customer Solutions
The Shippers Group has selected WMS, Zethcon's flagship software to support their operations which provides leading third-party warehousing, packaging, ecommerce, and transportation services. Our commitment to innovate and continuously improve operating efficiencies has led to investment in a new WMS and will support growth of our operations which currently span over 5.4 million square feet in 12 locations.
The goal of a new WMS is to provide a better way for our employees to be innovative and operate more efficiently within our varied supply chain offerings. In Zethcon, we found a partner with a proven track record that will help us continuously improve along our operational excellence journey. Synapse WMS equips us with better inventory control, flexibility and intuitive dashboards and performance reporting so that we can provide superior service to customers and adapt to their fast changing requirements with ease.

A Look Back at 2021 in Supply Chain
By Maggie Harvey, Sales & Marketing Support Specialist
It’s no surprise that 2021 was a year of supply chain disruptions. From labor shortages to rising COVID-19 cases, to extreme weather events, we saw many events that contributed to growing port congestions and manufacturing delays. This resulted in a lot of out-of-stock, long lead times, and inflated prices as supply could not keep up with the rising demand. According to the data released from Resilinc, the world’s leading supply chain risk monitoring and mapping solutions, supply chain disruptions were up 88% in 2021. The data also revealed that disruptions due to supply shortages increased 452% from the previous year.
So what does that mean for 2022? Will the supply chain recover this year?
